“Fashion” foi a última faixa finalizada para o álbum *Scary Monsters (and Creeps)*, gravada entre fevereiro e abril de 1980 em estúdios de Nova York e Londres.
A música surgiu como uma paródia de reggae chamada “Jamaica”, mas acabou se tornando um tema pós‑punk, dance e funk semelhante a “Golden Years”.
O guitarrista Robert Fripp, da King Crimson, contribuiu com o solo de guitarra principal da gravação.
O videoclipe, dirigido por David Mallet, mostra Bowie e sua banda como gangsters de rua, intercalados com dançarinos e uma parada de personagens da cena New Romantic.
Lançada como single em 24 de outubro 1980, “Fashion” alcançou a posição 5 nas paradas do Reino Unido e a 70 nos Estados Unidos.
A canção foi incluída em várias compilações de Bowie, recebeu elogios críticos e tem sido regravada por diversos artistas ao longo das décadas.
