O baixista e vocalista Stephan Jenkins compôs a música sozinha, inspirada por uma peça feita por um amigo do empresário Eric Godtland que se suicidou na escola devido ao preconceito por sua sexualidade.
A letra narra a história de um homossexual que salta da Ponte Coronado, transformando uma temática sombria em um hino anti-bullying que ressoa profundamente com o público LGBT.
A mensagem central da faixa foi desenvolvida pelas próprias experiências de alienação na infância de Jenkins, com o objetivo de promover compreensão e compaixão mútua entre as pessoas.
apesar de ter sido lançada como a música mais melancólica do álbum, atualmente é vista pelo próprio Jenkins como um momento de grande liberação e leveza para a plateia.
Lançada em agosto de 1998 pela Elektra Records, a canção chegou ao quinto lugar na Billboard Hot 100 e ao décimo na parada de singles do Canadá.
Lyndsey Parker, do Yahoo! Entertainment, designou a faixa como um "hino anti-bullying", levando Jenkins a reconhecer que a interpretação do público evoluiu desde o lançamento original.
