O single “Reptilia” foi lançado como o segundo da faixa de 2003 “Room on Fire”, mas só saiu em 9 de fevereiro de 2004.
O disco atingiu o 19º lugar na lista Modern Rock Tracks nos EUA, mas o 17º no Reino Unido, onde ainda recebeu certificado de ouro da BPI.
A capa do single traz uma criatura do clássico videogame Centipede, mostrando a influência da cultura pop nas escolhas visuais da banda.
O B‑side, “Modern Girls & Old Fashion Men”, foi uma colaboração entre Julian Casablancas e Regina Spektor, mas a dupla alterou o título para “Regina Spektor and The Strokes” após a objeção de Casablancas.
“Reptilia” foi incluída nas listas de 150 melhores faixas dos últimos 15 anos pela NME (posição 129 em 2011) e nas top 20 de maiores sucessos da Strokes, ocupando o 7º lugar no The Independent (2020) e o 6º no Paste (2020).
