Foi gravado no porão da Saint Bernadette Catholic School, em New Haven, Connecticut, em fevereiro de 1956, com Marty Kugell como produtor.

O saxofone solo foi tocado por Vinny Mazzetta, enquanto o ritmo era composto por Doug Murray (baixo), Bobby Mapp (bateria) e Curlee Glover (piano).

Embora tenha sido lançado como B‑side de “The Jones Girl” em 1956, o single atingiu o #24 na Billboard Hot 100 e o #3 no ranking de R&B “race” charts.

Em 1987‑1988, o tema foi incluído na trilha sonora de *Dirty Dancing*, levando à venda de mais de 10 milhões de cópias.

A canção é a única que chartou na Billboard Hot 100 três vezes com a mesma versão da mesma banda: #24 em 1956, #81 em 1960 e #99 em 1961.
