"A Forest" foi lançada como single em 8 de abril de 1980 e se tornou o primeiro single da The Cure a entrar nas paradas britânicas, alcançando a posição 34.
A faixa destaca a batida mecânica de Lol Tolhurst e a linha de baixo minimalista de Simon Gallup, criando um groove nervoso que contrasta com o restante do álbum "Seventeen Seconds".
O sucesso de "A Forest" garantiu à banda sua primeira participação no programa britânico "Top of the Pops".
