“Zombie” foi escrita por Dolores O'Riordan como protesto contra as vítimas jovens da bomba em Warrington, Inglaterra, durante os Troubles na Irlanda do Norte.
O single, lançado em 19 de setembro de 1994, alcançou o primeiro lugar nas paradas de Austrália, Bélgica, Dinamarca, França, Alemanha e Islândia, apesar da hesitação da Island Records em divulgar uma canção politicamente carregada.
O videoclipe, dirigido por Samuel Bayer, mostra O'Riordan cantando com o rosto pintado de ouro intercalado com imagens de Belfast devastada pela guerra.
