“Trash” foi lançada como o primeiro single do terceiro álbum de estúdio do Suede, *Coming Up*, em 29 de julho de 1996, marcando a primeira faixa totalmente composta sem a participação do guitarrista Bernard Butler, já que Richard Oakes assumiu a guitarra.
A música alcançou o terceiro lugar na UK Singles Chart, empatando com “Stay Together” como o single de maior sucesso da banda no Reino Unido, e acabou se tornando o single mais vendido do grupo.
