O título faz uma brincadeira linguística com a droga “amyl nitrite”, conhecida como poppers, e o tema da canção gira em torno de sexo gay.
A faixa alcançou o 7.º lugar nas paradas do Reino Unido, atingindo o objetivo de carreira de Brett Anderson de ter um single no top ten sobre uma experiência sexual “bizarra”.
