“All Star” foi escrita pelo guitarrista Greg Camp e gravada com a produção de Eric Valentine, em 1999, como a primeira faixa lançada do álbum *Astro Lounge*.
O título surgiu depois que a gravadora Interscope pediu mais músicas que pudessem ser singles, levando Camp a buscar inspiração em artistas contemporâneos como Sugar Ray e Third Eye Blind.
A faixa foi indicada ao Grammy de Melhor Performance Pop por Duo ou Grupo com Vocais no 42º Grammy Awards, e permanece reconhecida como a canção mais icônica da banda.
