A canção foi gravada em 1981 como parte de um demo tape da banda ainda chamada “The Mob”, antes de adotar o nome Queensrÿche.
“Queen of the Reich” foi lançada junto com “The Lady Wore Black”, “Nightrider” e “Blinded” no EP da banda, marcando o início da carreira profissional da banda.
O título da música inspirou a mudança de nome da banda, que passou a usar “Queensrÿche” em vez de “Queensreich” para evitar associações com a Alemanha nazista.
O EP que continha “Queen of the Reich” ajudou a firmar o estilo heavy‑metal da banda, estabelecendo a identidade sonora que viria a caracterizar os futuros lançamentos.
