A música “Phantom of the Opera” aparece como faixa quatro na edição original do álbum de estreia da Iron Maiden, mas migrou para a posição quinta no reedição remasterizada de 1998.
Foi escrita por Steve Harris, o baixista e principal compositor da banda, e se inspira no romance francês “The Phantom of the Opera” de Gaston Leroux.
O tema se tornou um dos preferidos dos fãs e é frequentemente tocado nas turnês da Iron Maiden.
No Reino Unido, a canção ganhou notoriedade ao ser usada em um comercial da Lucozade na década de 1980, além de ser parodiada em 2008 para o trailer de teaser da série “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”.
A faixa foi regravada pela banda New Eden para a compilação de 1998 “A Call to Irons: A Tribute to Iron Maiden”.
