“Radioactive” foi lançada inicialmente no EP *Continued Silence* e, depois, tornou‑se a faixa de abertura do álbum de estreia *Night Visions* da banda.
A canção combina indie rock com elementos de electronic rock e dubstep, apresentando letras crípticas sobre temas apocalípticos e revolucionários.
Apesar de ter sido enviada ao rádio duas vezes (2 de abril de 2012 e 29 de outubro de 2012), demorou a subir nas paradas, quebrando o recorde de ascensão mais lenta até o Top 5 da Billboard Hot 100, onde alcançou a posição 3.
Em agosto de 2013, “Radioactive” já era a terceira música mais baixada nos EUA daquele ano, com mais de 4,1 milhões de cópias vendidas, ficando atrás apenas de “Blurred Lines” e “Thrift Shop”.
A faixa recebeu duas indicações ao Grammy, vencendo na categoria “Best Rock Performance”, marcando a primeira vez que Imagine Dragons foi nomeada ao prêmio.
Durante a transmissão do Grammy, a banda apresentou um remix de “Radioactive” com o rapper Kendrick Lamar, versão que depois foi disponibilizada para compra no iTunes.
