O videoclipe de “Hungry Like the Wolf” foi filmado em Sri Lanka e dirigido por Russell Mulcahy, sendo o primeiro a ganhar um Grammy na categoria de Melhor Video Musical Curto em 1984.
Apesar de não ter entrado de entrada no mercado norte‑americano, a rotatividade intensa do MTV transformou o vídeo em um fenômeno, levando a música a chegar ao nº 3 na Billboard Hot 100 em março de 1983.
A canção foi produzida por Colin Thurston para o segundo álbum da banda, “Rio” (1982), que consolidou a imagem pop‑rock dos Duran Duran.
Em 2015, o refrão de “Hungry Like the Wolf” foi sampleado na faixa “Hey Everybody!” do 5 Seconds of Summer, resultando em crédito de composição para os Duran Duran.
